Karen Karner delivers the band’s powerful lead vocals. Karen also
plays keyboard, mandolin and violin. Her husband Ben turns out some
amazing sounds on his electric six-string guitar. Rob Parker lays
down a smooth sound from his thunderous bass and David Geiger
applies a unique set of beats to either acoustic or electric drums.
5 Smooth Stones
plays nearly all original Christian music and released their first
CD in November of 2003. 5ss practices once a week, and
they usually play three to five concerts a month. They accomplish
all this while they each hold down full time jobs (or High school in
David’s case). They hope to continue their ministry in some way for
years to come, whether it be playing in local churches or touring
and
playing music as a full time ministry.
Together, we strive to praise God with the talents He has given us.
Each of us possesses a different talent. No one talent is superior
to the others. Without any one of those talents present, we would
not be the complete whole that we are. Like the five stones David
plucked from the stream, we form a unique and important unity. David
only used one stone to defeat Goliath, but he had four others ready
for whatever came his way. If the stones could talk, I wonder if
they would have argued over who was going to be chosen. Or, would
they have just waited patiently in the bag, ready to do the work of
the one who chose them.
That is our goal. We are here to do the work of the one who chose
us. With the talents we have, however great or small, we are always
ready to perform the work that God intended for us to do.
