Ben has always had a passion for music and began to play the guitar while he was attending high school in Baltimore, Maryland. When he was a junior in college, he met his wife Karen, who was majoring in music. After he married Karen, they moved to North Carolina and began teaching.

Ben was coaching and teaching Bible class at a Raleigh area Christian school.  One of his students was David’s older sister.  They formed a bond that still exist till this day. In fact, this was probably David’s first exposure to 5ss.

As his interest in music grew stronger, Ben began to write songs with his wife. Soon after, they both helped create 5 Smooth Stones and began to play concerts around the Raleigh, NC area. Ben now works together with his wife Karen to write most of the music for the band. Ben plays awesome lead and rhythm guitar on his favorite Les Paul electric.
